field trip facilitator

Tues - Fri (as needed) | $15/hour

The Northeast Texas Children's Museum is looking for energetic, dependable Field Trip Facilitators to guide school groups through their museum visit. Field trips run throughout the year, and each facilitator is assigned to lead one class at a time through a series of timed exhibit stations — introducing the space, explaining how to interact with it, and keeping the group engaged and on schedule.

What You’ll Do

  • Greet your assigned class and lead them to their first station.

  • Give a brief, friendly orientation at each exhibit — what it is and how to explore it.

  • Keep students engaged and having fun for roughly 20 minutes per station.

  • Listen for the museum-wide rotation announcement and shepherd your group through cleanup and transition to the next station.

  • Partner with the classroom teacher and any chaperones present, who remain responsible for direct supervision.

  • Help create a smooth, positive experience from arrival to departure.

what we’re looking for

  • A kind, patient, and enthusiastic presence with children

  • Strong voice projection — you'll need to be heard clearly over a lively, noisy museum floor

  • Solid classroom or group-management skills: the ability to hold a group's attention, redirect wandering attention, and keep things moving on schedule

  • Comfort speaking in front of groups and adapting on the fly

  • Reliability and punctuality, since field trips run on a set schedule with multiple classes rotating through simultaneously

  • Physical stamina to be on your feet and actively engaged for the full visit

preferred (not required)

  • Background in education, childcare, or a related field

  • Experience working with children ages 2–10

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish especially helpful)

  • Experience working with children with special needs
