sensory-friendly morning
We're opening our doors on a Monday — a day we're normally closed — to create something special: a Sensory-Friendly Morning just for kids who need a gentler space to play.
Monday, July 20 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Monday, August 17 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Monday, September 21 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Every child deserves a place where they feel comfortable, safe, and free to be themselves. For kids with autism, anxiety, sensory processing differences, or other special needs, a typical museum morning — bright lights, background music, crowds, noise — can be a lot.
So for this event, we're dialing it down:
No music playing
Dimmed lighting where possible
Smaller crowds, quieter spaces
New sensory-friendly activities set out just for the morning
Admission
$8 (ages 2+)
FREE (ages 0-23 months)
Note: This morning is reserved for children with sensory sensitivities, autism, anxiety, or other special needs, along with their families. Siblings are absolutely welcome too — we just ask that they help keep the calm, low-key spirit of the morning intact. To protect this space for the kids who need it most, we kindly ask families without these specific needs to join us during our regular hours instead. We appreciate your understanding and support in making this a truly comfortable space for everyone.
If your family finds this meaningful, we'd love your feedback and support in making it a lasting part of what we offer. As a nonprofit, NETXCM relies on community support to keep programs like this alive. Thank you for helping us build a museum where every child has a place to play.
